Napoleon iii (louis napoleon bonaparte) was president of the French Republic from 1848 to 1852 and then emperor of the French from 1852 to 1870. Neveu de napoleon ier, he was born prince of holland in 1808. In adulthood, after several attempts at coup d'état (boulogne, strasbourg), he managed to be elected president of the republic by universal suffrage in 1848. His coup d'état of 2 December 1852 put an end to the second republic.
He then established a new empire. His policy was then to restore the greatness of the france, which was displeased by the kingdom of prussia.
The end of his reign came at the end of the battle of sedan during the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. Napoleon iii would then have to go into exile in Great Bretagne, where he died three years later, in 1873. Facial value : 10 francs year : 1865 workshop : a quality : tb+ ref library : f.
